A Guide to Major Sporting Events in Bangkok
The city of Bangkok is a much respected host of Asian Tour golf events, with some fine courses available that are a good test of a golfers abilities. Already this year the city has hosted The Royal Trophy, an inaugural event similar in style to the greatly respected Ryder Cup, though with teams from Europe and Asia competing against each other for supremacy.
Held in January, the European team was captained by none other than Seve Ballesteros, a man who has contributed so much to golf and possesses a burning desire to win. This passion saw him lead his team to a 9-7 victory, his team of top European professionals narrowly beating their Asian Tour counterparts in what is destined to be an ongoing and thoroughly enjoyable event.
The Asian Tour will return to Bangkok at the the end of the year too, with the Volvo Masters of Asia being the tour's final event of the season, and a fitting culmination to an excellent year. Held at the Thai Country Club in December this is sure to be a popular event with spectators and players alike, so it would be wise to arrange flights and accommodation in advance.
